How to reset iPhone- Do you want to sell your old iPhone or iPad because you want to use a new iPhone? Need extra money? Or thinking of giving it to a friend or family member? Then you want to Reset iPhone or factory reset iPhone (or iPad) from the factory before doing anything with it.
For those who don’t know, a factory reset will restore the time when the device was removed from, well, factory – erases all account info, applications, media, and everything else you can think of.
This is different from “soft reset” which must be used when your cellphone is unresponsive and does not delete any data.

- Tap Settings> General> Reset
- Tap ‘Delete all content and settings’
- Enter the passcode / Face ID / fingerprint
- Tap ‘Erase iPhone / iPad’
- Enter your Apple ID password
- Your iPhone / iPad will now reset the factory
Back up your iPhone first
If you change your mind, you want to keep all the data stored somewhere – you can also use it as a basis for the next iPhone or iPad by restoring from that backup.
If you enter iCloud, you can start to back it up by going to Settings, tapping your name at the top of the page. Select iCloud, and scroll down to iCloud Backup, then press “Backup Now”.
You can also back up your device to a PC or Mac. Just connect to the computer and click the small device icon in iTunes.
There you will find options to set automatic backup or just back up by clicking the button. This is also where you will restore from a backup on your new phone.

How to reset iphone to Factory Settings
Here we are, it’s time to reset your iPhone or iPad factory. Both processes are the same, and it’s quite simple.
Open Settings, then tap General then Reset.
This will give you many reset options, but all you need to reset your iPhone factory is “Erase All Content And Settings”.
If your device uses a passcode, TouchID or FaceID, you might need to confirm this action and then press Delete iPhone.

You then need to log in with your Apple ID to make sure it can be deleted from the device and Find Find iPhone can be deactivated.
WARNING – ALL DATA WILL BE DELETED FROM YOUR IPHONE OR iPad. Make sure you have backed up any data that you want to keep on your iCloud or computer.
After you’ve done that, your phone will need a few minutes before asking you to install it as a new device.
